Chisinau hosts Moldova Open K-1 Cup: 250 athletes from both sides of Prut River compete for trophy

Chisinau has become the epicenter of martial arts this weekend. Approximately 250 fighters from Moldova and Romania are competing for supremacy at the Moldova Open K-1 Cup, an event that promises full-scale spectacle and an exceptional technical level.

The today’s official opening was not just about fighting, but also about gratitude. In a festive setting, Constantin Bolea, president of the National K-1 Federation of Moldova, honored the elite of this sport. Excellence trophies were awarded to those who have made history in the international ring, including veterans Vitalie Matei, Stanislav Renita, Pavel Voronin and Constantin Rusu, as well as top fighters Dumitru Sarbu, Alexandru Burduja, Serghei Morari and Cristian Dorel, Artiom Livadari, Victor Apostol and Nadejda Canțâr.

More than 20 clubs have sent their representatives to the competition, turning the ring into a launchpad for young sportspeople. The organizers emphasized the educational value of the event, highlighting that K-1 is not only about strength, but also about discipline respect and a healthy lifestyle.

“These competitions are vital for shaping the new generation. Sport teaches young people the perseverance they will need outside the ring as well,” the Federation’s representatives pointed out.

Combat sports fans are invited to support the athletes on the coming days as well. The electric atmosphere, spectacular strikes and the desire for recognition shown by the 250 participants guarantee an unforgettable weekend for the public in Chisinau.
