Over 1,200 kindergartens of Moldova equipped with thousands of books through Read Me 100 Stories national reading programme

Over 1,200 kindergartens from Moldova in 2025 were equipped with around 83,000 books through the national interactive reading programme, Read Me 100 Stories.

Within the same programme, hundreds of teachers took part in training sessions aimed at developing early interactive reading and language skills.

The initiative is implemented by the Education and Research Ministry, in partnership with UNICEF Moldova, the OvidiuRo Association and the Ion Creanga Children’s Library, with financial support from the Government of the United Kingdom, the Government of the United States of America and the Government of South Korea.

The Read Me 100 Stories programme was launched on April 10, 2025. In the beneficiary institutions, “reading islands” were set up – child-friendly spaces that give children the opportunity to read and listen to stories.

At the same time, last year, 200 kindergartens were equipped with devices, furniture and teaching materials. The purchases were made based on projects financed with the support of the World Bank. According to Education and Research Ministry, the total value of goods purchased for kindergartens amounted to 1,336,800 dollars.
