Over 55,000 citizens from 85 localities to have access to safe drinking water

More than 55,000 residents will have access to safe drinking water after BOSAQ water systems are installed in 85 localities. For the implementation of this project, the Kingdom of Belgium will grant our country a loan of 12 million euros.

Members of the parliamentary commission for foreign policy and European integration have approved the report on the advisory opinion that provides for the initiation of negotiations on the grant project between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Government of the Kingdom of Belgium regarding decentralized drinking water supply.

BOSAQ kiosks are potable water treatment installations and have a production capacity of 500 L/h. These comply with European Union standards and offer protection against contaminants, ensuring safe drinking water.

The repayment period of the loan will be 30 years, including a grace period of 10 years during which no interest is paid. The interest rate will be 1.5%.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics, 20% of the rural population of the country does not have access to clean water and sanitary facilities. Additionally, 10% of urban area residents do not have reliable access to clean products.
