State Chancellery launched website on voluntary amalgamation in Moldova - amalgamare.gov.md
The developments in the voluntary amalgamation in the Republic of Moldova can be followed in real-time on the new website – amalgamare.gov.md. The platform contains an interactive map that allows viewing each Administrative-Territorial Unit (ATU) individually.
The map was created in partnership with the ADEPT Association, with financial support from the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
According to the State Chancellery, the units are marked according to the stage they are in during the voluntary amalgamation process, and upon accessing them, visitors to the page can leave suggestions in the dedicated section.
Additionally, users can learn more about the amalgamation stages – from creating the Cluster and forming the joint working group, to holding new local elections in the amalgamated ATU.
The website also contains other sections related to news, reports, and other useful resources for administrative-territorial units.
The voluntary amalgamation process of first-level administrative-territorial units began on January 16, 2024. Over 100 mayors have expressed support for this initiative, and three clusters intend to complete the process by the fall of 2025, with the new local elections.
