The Chisinau-based Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy (USMF) on October 19-23 is hosting an exhibition titled The Art of Being – a project offering a glimpse into the world of people with Down syndrome and reminding us how precious each person’s uniqueness is.

Through six illustrated portraits, visitors can discover people with distinct personalities, passions, dreams and emotions. Each work tells a story about identity, sensitivity and the beauty of being different.

“We invite you, dear students, teaching staff and members of the university community, to discover this exhibition and be inspired by the stories of its six protagonists. Let us remember that a community becomes stronger when every person is seen, accepted, respected and encouraged to fulfill his/her potential. Because inclusion begins with a prejudice-free outlook, continues with understanding and is fulfilled through gestures of acceptance and solidarity,” the educational institution noted.

On October 19-22, the exhibition can be visited at the Central Teaching Block (165 Stefan cel Mare and Holy Boulevard), while on October 23, it will be hosted at the University Sociocultural Complex (25 Nicolae Testemitanu Street).

The exhibition is part of “The Art of Being,” a campaign, organized by the Prietenamea (My Girlfriend) Association, with financial support from the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida), through Swedish Development Partner. The illustrations were created by artist Cristina Frei.
