Drone falls into resident’s garden in north Moldova settlement; device does not carry explosive payload

A drone today was discovered in the garden of a resident of the town of Otaci, northern Ocnita district. According to the Moldovan Police, the aircraft did not contain an explosive payload and no casualties or material damage were reported as a result of the incident.

Police were notified of the incident at about 15:40. Law enforcement officers went to the scene, where they found fragments of the unmanned aircraft.

“Specialists established that the aircraft has the characteristics of a professional quadcopter, with structural elements made of carbon fiber and electronic components damaged following its impact with the ground. The aircraft is of a type used for monitoring, is battery-powered and does not contain an explosive payload,” the Police said.

Specialists are continuing to examine the fragments, in order to determine the drone’s origin and the circumstances in which it fell.
