Process of recognizing diplomas obtained in foreign institutions to be optimized
The process of recognizing diplomas obtained in foreign institutions will be improved. The procedure is set out in the Regulation on the recognition and equivalence, for general academic and professional purposes, of study documents and qualifications obtained abroad, which was approved today by the Government.
Minister of Education and Research Dan Perciun said that the decision updates certain provisions and facilitates the automatic recognition of study documents from general education for access to the next level of studies.
“The purpose of the document is to recognize partial studies and qualifications in order to harness the educational pathways completed in different education systems, to valorize prior experience and learning, including competences acquired in formal, non-formal and informal contexts, to facilitate access to education and the labor market for refugees and displaced persons, to create the possibility to apply for the European Qualifications Passport, to simplify and streamline the process of recognition and equivalence of study documents and qualifications obtained abroad, and to strengthen confidence in the education system and encourage the internationalization of higher education,” said Dan Perciun at the Government meeting.
According to the project’s explanatory note, the recognition of study documents will facilitate access to further studies, to continuing professional training, to employment and consequently will facilitate the social integration of citizens.
