Three prosecutors fail external evaluation in Moldova; reports sent to Superior Council of Prosecutors

Prosecutors Eduard Varzar and Ghenadie Pîrlii, both from the Prosecutor General’s Office, and Veaceslav Potînga, a prosecutor of the Chisinau Municipal Prosecutor’s Office, have failed the external evaluation. The findings today were presented by the Prosecutors’ Evaluation Commission, which has completed the procedure for verifying ethical and financial integrity.

Eduard Varzar and Veaceslav Potînga were evaluated in connection with their previous exercise of the position of prosecutor at the Anticorruption Prosecutor’s Office.

Following the analysis, the evaluation panels found that the three prosecutors did not meet the criteria of financial integrity and proposed that they should not pass the external evaluation.

The evaluation reports were sent to the individuals concerned and to the Superior Council of Prosecutors (CSP). They will be made public after the expiry of the deadline for appealing the CSP’s decisions or within three days from the delivery of final rulings by the Supreme Court of Justice.
