Finnish Embassy warns Moldovan citizens about job-related scams

The Embassy of Finland in Bucharest has warned citizens of the Republic of Moldova about fraud cases in which unknown individuals promise to arrange jobs in Finland and prepare the necessary documents for obtaining the right to work.

According to the embassy, the institution’s representatives are repeatedly contacted by Moldovan citizens who say they were deceived after paying money to intermediaries who had promised them employment in Finland, most frequently at a brewery, as well as assistance with visa formalities.

The Embassy of Finland urges citizens not to pay any money to people making such promises and to verify information only from official sources.

Representatives of the diplomatic mission note that citizens of the Republic of Moldova who wish to work in Finland must have a contract signed with the employer. The documents for obtaining a residence permit are submitted online through the EnterFinland platform, together with the other required documents. The processing fee, which ranges between 380 and 740 euros depending on the type of activity, is also paid online.

The embassy stresses that the procedure does not require intermediaries or the payment of commissions to third parties.

More information on how to apply for residence permits in Finland is available on the official website of the Finnish Immigration Service: https://migri.fi/en/i-want-to-apply.

The embassy also reminds that citizens of the Republic of Moldova holding a biometric passport do not need a visa to travel to Finland for tourism purposes.
