Republic of Moldova highlighted in Italian press after participating in BIT Milano 2026

The Republic of Moldova has attracted the attention of the Italian press following its participation in the Borsa Internazionale del Turismo (BIT) Milano 2026, one of the most important international tourism exhibitions. Several Italian publications have highlighted the country’s authentic tourism offer, its quality wines, and traditional hospitality.

According to articles published in the Italian media, the Republic of Moldova offers “an authentic travel experience,” in which visitors discover an ancient cultural heritage, unspoiled nature, rural villages that preserve traditions, and a highly regarded cuisine.

The publications mention attractions such as the underground tunnels of the Wine City in Cricova, the tourism experiences offered by Purcari Castle, the Orheiul Vechi historical and cultural complex, and the trails in the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve Lower Prut, including Beleu Lake area. The capital Chișinău, the National Opera, and the National Museum of History are also highlighted.

Special emphasis is placed on the winegrowing and winemaking tradition. The Italian press recalls that Moldova is one of the world’s oldest wine producers, with more than 7,000 years of tradition, and is home to the largest wine collection at Mileștii Mici winery. At the same time, Iter Vitis wine routes of the Council of Europe are promoted, combining cultural heritage with wine tastings.

At BIT Milan 2026, held at Fiera Milano Rho, the Republic of Moldova was present with an institutional stand where visitors could taste wines and traditional products and had the opportunity to talk with representatives of the tourism sector. The participation helped to strengthen the country’s image on the Italian market and to promote Moldova as an emerging destination in Europe.
