Agriculture Ministry: No embargo on Moldovan wines on Ukrainian market
The Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry has clarified the situation regarding wine exports to the Ukrainian market, emphasizing that, as of now, there is no ban or embargo imposed on domestic wines.
Information was spread in the public space about a possible decision and regulatory options that are currently at the level of consultations between institutions. The Ministry noted that these technical discussions do not represent an actual ban on exports and do not amount to the imposition of sanctions or trade blockages.
“Institutional dialogue with the competent authorities in Ukraine continues in a constructive manner, with the aim of preventing any measures that could affect domestic producers or bilateral trade relations,” the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry (MAIA) said.
MAIA also mentioned that it has not received any official notification from the Ukrainian authorities regarding possible restrictions on the import of wines or other wine products from the Republic of Moldova. Consequently, exports are continuing according to normal procedures, without disruptions, the source indicates.
The Ministry calls for responsible information-sharing and the avoidance of alarmist interpretations that could generate unjustified tensions in the public space. The priority remains maintaining a constructive and calm climate in order to prevent an artificial escalation of the situation.
The authorities will continue to inform the public in a transparent manner should any relevant developments arise concerning the export market for Moldovan wines.
Moldovan wines are present in over 70 countries and are internationally recognized through awards and distinctions. The products are made in accordance with European standards of quality, safety and traceability, and the national wine sector operates in strict compliance with the international trade commitments undertaken by the Republic of Moldova.
