Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu, during a visit to the central Nisporeni district, has met local elected officials and representatives of deconcentrated public services. The sides discussed the current needs of residents and the benefits of projects already implemented in the communities.

So far, the government has invested over 173 million lei in the district, in order to modernize local infrastructure, expand water and sewer networks, improve public lighting, rehabilitate roads and carry out other projects that make life in the communities more comfortable. Important investments have also been made in education, culture and healthcare, including with the support of external partners.

“People’s basic needs must be normality, not a privilege. We know there is still much to be done – we need additional investments in the medical system and in quality roads, in strengthening human resources in public institutions and in increasing local administrative capacity,” emphasized Prime Minister Munteanu.

In the context, the PM noted that the local public administration reform was meant  to ensure the creation of stronger mayoralties capable of accelerating the development of localities. More villages of the Nisporeni district are already involved in the process of voluntary amalgamation and the mayors who took part in the meeting supported the need for the reform and for active cooperation with central public authorities.

Among the current intervention needs in the district’s localities, there are the expansion of water and sewer systems, the development of waste management systems, the rehabilitation of local roads, the gasification of three localities, the need to develop general urban plans and to complete the delimitation process.

It is worth noting that, in 2026, the city of Nisporeni will host a string of sports activities, after being designated the winner of the competition organized by the  Education and Research Ministry under the Capital of Sport Programme. For its implementation, the government will allocate a budget of approximately 2 million lei. Prime Minister Alexandru Munteanu today will discuss the planned activities  with the director of the Grigore Brașoveanu Sports Complex, Petru Lupei. Presently, more than 650 children train there with a team of 28 coaches.
