All schools of Moldova to switch to electronic gradebooks

All schools across Moldova are expected to use electronic gradebooks during the current academic year, through the Electronic Gradebook Information System (SICE), MOLDPRES reports, citing the Ministry of Education and Research (MEC).

„In the previous year, the platform was used by 716 general education institutions, representing approximately 60 per cent of the total number of schools. SICE allows teachers to record grades, absences and homework digitally, while pupils and parents can monitor academic performance, lesson schedules and other information related to the educational process,” the MEC said.

For schools that will use the platform for the first time, the MEC will organize training sessions for teaching staff. Teachers from approximately 400 institutions will participate and receive training on using the electronic gradebook and managing school data.

The expansion of the system will also be accompanied by investments in digital infrastructure. Work is planned to expand local networks and improve internet access in 292 educational institutions.

By implementing the electronic gradebook nationwide, the authorities aim to reduce bureaucracy and the use of paper documents, while providing teachers, pupils and parents with faster access to information about the educational process, the Ministry of Education says.
