Women in of Transnistrian region inspired by technology: first edition of Tech Women Conference Tiraspol encourages digitalization

Over 60 girls and women from the left bank of the Dniester today gathered at the first edition of the Tech Women Conference Tiraspol, an event dedicated to promoting women in the field of technologies and developing digital skills. The conference created a dialogue, learning and collaboration space among women passionate about innovation, business and digital education.

The event was organized by the National Association of Information and Communication technology (ICT) Companies (ATIC), the Agency for Innovation and Development and the Tech Women Moldova Community, with support on behalf of France, within the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) project titled, Developing Export Potential on both Banks of Dniester (AdTrade), funded by Sweden and the United Kingdom.

"Tech Women Conference Tiraspol promotes collaboration between women from both banks of Dniester and provides a concrete framework for education and connection to the digital economy. Such events not only develop skills, but also build bridges between people, offering inspiration and role models," said Dumitru Parfentiev, the UNDP AdTrade project manager.

The conference’s agenda included inspirational sessions and practical workshops led by mentors and ambassadors of Tech Women Moldova, who spoke about female leadership, mentorship, digital marketing, project management and graphic design.

One of the central subjects focused on the role of mentorship in professional development, emphasizing the importance of solidarity and collaboration among women. Participants discovered concrete examples of how technologies can become an ally for career growth, personal development and business launches.

"For ATIC, supporting women in technology has been a priority for over one decade. Hundreds of women have benefited from training and mentorship, turning ideas into real projects. The conference in Tiraspol marks a new step in strengthening female leadership in IT," noted Irina Oriol, executive director of ATIC.

The event brought together women from diverse fields—education, business, administration and IT—from both banks of Dniester, united by the wish to develop and contribute to the digital transformation of their communities.

"Tech Women Moldova means women supporting each other, learning from one another and growing together. The fact that Tiraspol is now joining this network shows us that the wish for collaboration and progress is shared," said Ecaterina Artemiev, president and coordinator of Tech Women Moldova.

The conference was also a moment of recognition for over 80 graduates of training programmes in digital marketing, project management, graphic design and applied artificial intelligence, carried out within the initiative titled, Empowering Women on both Banks of Dniester in the Field of Technologies.

"We want Tech Women Tiraspol to become an active, open and continuously learning community. Women can be a driving force of innovation, if they have access to training, mentorshi, and equal resources," emphasized Tatiana Jolobova, director of the Agency for Innovation and Development.

Tech Women Conference Tiraspol is part of the programme, Empowering Women on both Banks of Dniester in Field of Technology, which promotes the involvement of women in the IT sector and contributes to reducing digital gaps through equal access to training, mentorship and resources.
