Forty young people from India arrive in Chisinau to continue studies at universities of Moldova

A group of 40 young men and women from India have arrived in Chisinau, in order to continue their studies at higher education institutions of Moldova. They have opted for the study programmess provided by the Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy (USMF), the Technical University of Moldova, and the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova.

According to data by the Education and Research Ministry, higher education institutions of Moldova admitted a record number of foreign students in the 2025-2026 academic year. In total, 1,113 young people from 24 countries worldwide have enrolled in higher education programmes in the country, 376 more compared to last year.

Thus, this year, 300 young people from such countries as India, Israel, France, Morocco, Belgium and Finland were admitted to USMF Nicolae Testemitanu. At the Ion Creanga University, 279 students, mainly from Romania and Ukraine, have enrolled, while at UTM - 273 students, most of them from India. Two other institutions - USM and ASEM have registered 161 and 100 foreign students, respectively.

The young people have opted for bachelor's programs in such fields as medicine, educational sciences, veterinary medicine, translation and interpretation, business and administration and animation.

In recent years, universities of Moldova have undergone a significant transformation process, with major investments made in modernizing infrastructure and endowment with state-of-the-art tools and equipment. Study programmes have been updated according to labor market demands, enabling young people to study under conditions competitive with universities in other countries.

This year, the Education and Research Ministry has initiated a massive campaign to promote studies from Moldova in India, a country with the greatest potential for attracting young people to study. The campaign is ongoing and interest in studies in our country is expanding to other countries as well.

In Moldova, there are 16 higher education institutions, of which 12 public and four private ones.
