European Commissioner for Financial Services and Savings and Investments Union to come to Chisinau
EU Commissioner for Financial Services and Savings and Investments Union Maria Luís Albuquerque will visit Chisinau on October 30, in order to participate in a high-level dialogue workshop titled, Finance and Economic Growth: Lessons for Moldova's European Path. The event, organized by the National Bank of Moldova (BNM), will bring together senior officials from national and European authorities, representatives from international financial institutions and economic experts.
According to the BNM, the European commissioner will deliver a speech on European perspectives regarding the role of financial markets in supporting economic growth and Moldova's integration process into the European Union.
The aim of the event is to create a strategic dialogue platform on financial and economic priorities in Moldova's irreversible path toward joining the European Union.
The central subjects of the forum include: aligning the financial sector with European standards and strengthening the prudential supervisory framework, modernizing agriculture and rural financing through innovative tools, energy security and sustainable investments aimed at green transition, developing small and medium-sized enterprises, by enhancing the competitiveness and stimulating the innovation, as well as capital market’s integration and digital transformation of the economy, all meant to accelerate Moldova's connection to the European single market.
"The European integration of Moldova is a process full of opportunities. Through open dialogue and international cooperation, we can speed up reforms that bring stability, transparency and sustainable growth. The financial system plays a central role in this process, which can transform the ambition of integration into a beneficial reality for citizens and the business environment. The National Bank of Moldova reaffirms its commitment to promoting dialogue with European and international partners, contributing to the modernization and financial convergence of Moldova with the European Union," emphasized BNM Governor Anca Dragu.
In the accession process to the European Union, the National Bank of Moldova plays a key role in implementing reforms related to financial services, free movement of capital and monetary policy.
