The Nicolae Testemitanu State University of Medicine and Pharmacy (USMF) of Moldova marks eight decades of work. To mark the occasion, an anniversary ceremony titled, Eighty Years of Vision, Identity, and European Excellence, dedicated to the founding and sustainable activity of the University, was organized in Chisinau today.
The festive event was attended by President Maia Sandu, Her Majesty Margareta, the Custodian of the Romanian Crown, and His Royal Highness Prince Radu, Ambassador of the European Union to Chisinau Iwona Piórko, Health Minister Ala Nemerenco, Education and Research Minister Dan Perciun, professors and academicians from abroad.
Presently, more than 7,000 students are enrolled at USMF Nicolae Testemitanu, of whom 1,500 come from 31 countries. At the same time, 422 doctoral students are studying at the Doctoral School in the field of Medical Sciences under the guidance of 306 PhD supervisors. Moreover, 9,500 practicing physicians, pharmacists and health specialists annually attend continuing medical education programmes.
The USMF Nicolae Testemitanu scientific and teaching staff comprises 1,017 individuals, including 153 habilitated doctors and 509 PhD holders, six academicians of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova (ASM) and five corresponding members of ASM.
In its 80 years of activity, USMF Nicolae Testemitanu has signed 127 collaboration agreements with universities and research centers from 32 countries.
