The city of Ialoveni celebrated its patronal festival on October 27th, marking Saint Parascheva, the spiritual protector of the settlement, as well as 589 years since the first documented attestation of Ialoveni.
The residents and guests of Ialoveni enjoyed cultural, sports and artistic activities for all ages. More topic-related exhibitions were also organized, including The Petru Costin Gallery and Ialoveni, City of the Future.
Throughout the day, activities for children, traditional sports competitions, a music and dance performance by local artistic groups and an evening concert took place.
On the same day, the album Ialoveni – City of the Future. People and Deeds, authored by Nicolae Schitco and Andrei Mardari, was launched.
The volume includes events, people and deeds that have marked the recent history of the locality, emphasizing the contribution of local public administration, institutions and residents to community’s development.
‘’Ialoveni, a modern city, undoubtedly, but which has magnificently managed to preserve, through its inhabitants, the patriarchal spirit, reminding us of the simplicity of customs, of living and, at the same time, inspiring us to enjoy the delightful ambiance of the present. When you write about people, about life-filled hearths, when you discover the past and the present day, always lived, in various circumstances, with much dignity and honor, you become aware of how important it is to think about the present and shape the future,’’ said Nicolae Schitco.
