Acting Foreign Minister: We rely on European Parliament's support for opening six negotiation clusters

Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popșoi and Vice-President of the European Parliament Victor Negrescu discussed Moldova's progress on European path and necessary steps for advancing the accession process.

According to a press release of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the meeting also focused on the recent parliamentary elections and the efforts of Moldovan authorities in countering external interferences.

Popșoi highlighted the constant support of the European Parliament, through the recent resolution on strengthening Moldova’s resilience against hybrid threats and malign interference from the Russian Federation.

‘This is a clear sign of solidarity. We continue to rely on the valuable support of the European Parliament for opening the six negotiation clusters and continuing the necessary reforms for Moldova's accession to the large European family,’ said Popșoi.

Negrescu praised the democratic and transparent manner in which the parliamentary elections were conducted in September, as well as the sustained pace of reforms carried out by the authorities in Chișinău.

The high official reaffirmed the European Parliament's support for opening the accession negotiations and integrating the Republic of Moldova into the European Union.

Negrescu is on a working visit to Chișinău.
