Works of construction of military unit in central Moldovan settlement to be completed in 2027
The works of construction of the military unit in the central Moldova commune of Bacioi have been completed by around 50 per cent and are expected to be finalized by the end of 2027. The total value of the project reaches approximately 800 million lei, funds allocated from the state budget.
Defence Minister Anatolie Nosatii has said that the unit would provide accommodation and training facilities for both military personnel and civilians, in line with European standards.
“The project was launched in 2024. Presently, 61 facilities are under construction. Other works concern the water and sewage networks, electricity and lighting. It is a complex project that will bring much better conditions for the life and activity of military personnel and civilians. I encourage families to have full confidence that we are providing very good conditions for the young people who serve in the interest of the country,” said Anatolie Nosatii.
The official emphasized that the goal is that, by the end of 2027, the soldiers of the 2nd Motorized Infantry Brigade Stefan cel Mare”, which currently operates in the Buiucani district of the capital, are stationed at the unit. The authorities also intend to move here the students of the Military Academy of the Armed Forces Alexandru cel Bun.
“This also depends on the contractors fulfilling their obligations. So far, all works have been carried out in accordance with the approved plan and there are no delays. The works will continue after 2027 as well. Up to now, almost 500 million lei has been allocated from the state budget, and 290 million lei is planned for the next stage. These are capital investments; part of this money goes towards paying taxes, salaries and other actions that contribute to the growth of the state’s economy,” added Anatolie Nosatii.
The construction of the new camp is included in the Ministry of Defence’s Strategic Vision for the development of the National Army in the medium term for the years 2022–2025. The new unit will be the first military camp of this type built in Moldova since the country gained independence.
