Greek tennis player wins Moldova Open Challenger 100

Greek tennis player Stefanos Sakellaridis has won the title at the Moldova Open Challenger 100 - 2026 tennis tournament, after defeating Romanian Cezar Cretu in the final, 6-7 (1), 6-3, 6-3, in a match that lasted two hours and 41 minutes.

The player from Romania, who ranked 370th in the ATP standings, claimed the first set after a dominant tie-break, which he won 7-1. The top seed in the final, Stefanos Sakellaridis, currently 197th in the world, came back strongly into the match and took the next two sets by the same score, 6-3, 6-3, thus securing the second Challenger title of his career.

On his way to the final, Sakellaridis defeated Argentine Genaro Alberto Olivieri 6-3, 6-4 in the semifinals. On the other side of the draw, Cezar Cretu got past the best Moldovan tennis player, Radu Albot, 6-2, 4-6, 6-2.

Stefanos Sakellaridis will receive a prize of 23,700 euros and 100 ATP points. Finalist Cezar Cretu earns 14,000 euros and 50 ATP points.

The title won in Moldova is the second Challenger trophy in the Greek player’s career, after the one claimed last year at the Delhi Open.
