A total of 62 film projects were presented during the public session of the 2026 Film Project Funding Competition, organized by the National Center of Cinematography. The projects were selected from a total of 67 submitted files and are competing for a budget of 20 million lei.

According to the Ministry of Culture, the projects admitted to the public presentation stage include 11 projects in development, 14 co-productions, seven feature-length documentary productions, four feature-length fiction productions, two debut projects in the feature-length category, 16 short fiction productions, four short animations, two projects in post-production, and two series.

The files were evaluated in an initial stage by a commission of experts, who analyzed the artistic value of the projects. Subsequently, during the public session, they were examined by an international jury composed of experts Gabriele Brunnenmeyer, Crăița Nanu, and Giovanni Robbiano, who assessed the artistic potential and development prospects of the productions submitted to the competition.

In the coming period, the admitted participants will submit the technical files. After the scores obtained in all stages are combined, the final ranking of the projects will be drawn up and sent to the Council of the National Center of Cinematography for funding approval.

A novelty of this year's edition is the inclusion, for the first time, of TV series projects in the competition. The measure aims to expand support for the audiovisual sector and diversify the types of productions that can receive state funding.

The total budget allocated to the 2026 competition session is 20 million lei.
