Aneta Gonța elected President of Audiovisual Council
Aneta Gonța was elected today as President of the Audiovisual Council (CA), with the votes of six members of the regulatory authority. She succeeds Liliana Vițu, who announced her resignation from the position.
The decision was adopted during the public meeting of the Audiovisual Council. Before being elected president, Aneta Gonța held the position of vice president of the institution.
The election of a new head of the authority took place after Liliana Vițu submitted her resignation, justifying her decision by an “anticipated change in professional life.” Vițu had led the Audiovisual Council since December 2021.
In her speech at the meeting, Liliana Vițu thanked her colleagues for their cooperation and for the work carried out during almost five years of her term. She stated that the institution has strengthened its position among European audiovisual regulatory authorities, contributing to the process of European integration and to improving the quality of audiovisual media services.
The new President of the Audiovisual Council holds a PhD in Political Science and a Master’s degree in Journalism and Communication Sciences. Aneta Gonța is a university lecturer, media researcher, media education trainer, and journalist. Throughout her career, she has collaborated with the Association of Independent Press, the Independent Journalism Center, the Mass Media Program of the Soros Foundation-Moldova, Agora Francophone, and Deutsche Welle Akademie.
Since 2022, Aneta Gonța has been a member of the Steering Committee on Media and Information Society (CDMSI) of the Council of Europe, and in March 2026 she was elected Chair of the Committee of Experts on the Protection of Media Pluralism in the Digital Age (MSI-ePLU).
According to the Audiovisual Media Services Code, the Audiovisual Council is led by a president and a vice president, elected by secret ballot with the support of at least five members of the authority.
