PHOTO // Moldovan National Army’s KFOR-24 contingent ends mission in Kosovo
The KFOR-24 contingent of the National Army has completed its six-month mission within the international peacekeeping operation KFOR in Kosovo. The 41 Moldovan troops have returned to Moldova.
The official ceremony marking the servicemen’s return was attended by the leadership of the Defence Ministry and the General Staff of the National Army.
Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatii addressed the troops with a message of appreciation for the professionalism, responsibility and dedication they proved throughout the mission, highlighting their contribution to maintaining peace and security in Kosovo.
During the event, more peacekeepers were awarded National Army diplomas and medals for their service during the mandate.
Over the six months of the mission, the Moldovan military carried out guard and defense activities for strategically important infrastructure facilities, ensured the security of the multinational base, Camp Villaggio Italia, including the Visoki Dečani Monastery, and conducted engineering reconnaissance missions and detection of explosive devices in their area of responsibility.
The National Army’s mission in Kosovo is being continued by the 25th contingent, deployed within the KFOR operation on July 23, this year.
Moldova has been participating in the international KFOR peacekeeping operation since 2014.
