BNM governor in Washington: Today we can say that Moldova is no longer country on edge of Europe, but state that inspires with democratic maturity

The Republic of Moldova is undergoing a historic transformation, being an example of courage and democratic resilience, and the recent parliamentary elections demonstrate that Moldova's European path is irreversible. Governor of the National Bank of Moldova (BNM) Anca Dragu made the statements at the event "Stability, Security and Prosperity in Southeastern Europe," organized by the Hudson Institute in Washington D.C.

The forum brought together political leaders and business representatives from the region, including Alexandru Nazare, Romania's Minister of Finance, and Jan Ruzicka, Director of External Relations at PPF Group.

"Today we can say that Moldova is no longer a country on the edge of Europe, but a state that inspires with democratic maturity. That's why I'm convinced: Moldova will become the wonder child of Europe," Anca Dragu said.

The official highlighted three major directions of accelerated development, which include digital transformation and modern payment infrastructure, the development of the capital market and access of Moldovan companies to external financing, the promotion of green financing, education, and financial inclusion.

"Anyone not investing in Moldova today will regret it in five years. Moldova offers macroeconomic stability, an independent central bank, and a regulatory framework compatible with the European one. The Republic of Moldova has excellent human resources, a culture of resilience, and a determination that makes it attractive for responsible investments," BNM governor said.

Moreover, the official pointed out that Moldova is already an integral part of financial Europe, following its accession to SEPA, and banking reforms, payment digitalization, and the modernization of supervision contribute to attracting European capital and increasing the competitiveness of the national economy.
