Moldovan parliament speaker says elections' validation means beginning of new important stage
Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu has thanked the lawmakers of the 11th legislature for their work and announced that a new important stage was beginning, after the validation of the parliamentary elections by the Constitutional Court.
"This step signifies the beginning of a new important stage – the convening of the new parliament's constitutive session by the country's president. I thank the deputies of the 11th legislative period for the entire work and drafts we have voted on during these four years," said Grosu.
He also expressed his gratitude to the citizens for the trust they have placed and emphasized that the coming period would be full of challenges:
"We have a lot of work ahead and significant challenges, but we are also highly determined for Moldova to be a member of the European Union by 2028."
The Constitutional Court confirmed the results of the parliamentary elections held on September 28 and validated the elected MPs' mandates today, October 16. The new parliament is set to convene for a constitutive session, called by Moldova’s president 30 days after the elections at the latest.
