Energocom purchased 331 thousand MWh of electricity in August, mostly from imports

In August 2025, Energocom purchased approximately 331.3 thousand MWh of electricity, sourced both domestically and from imports, at a weighted average price of 121.17 EUR/MWh, according to the company's official data.

Of the total quantities purchased, 78.33% were imports, and only 21.67% were delivered by local producers.

"This highlights the high dependency of the Republic of Moldova on electricity imports, especially from Romania and Ukraine," the company states.

Regarding the acquisition methods, 61.25% of the total quantity was procured through bilateral contracts with suppliers and producers from Romania and Ukraine, while the remaining 17.08% was traded through market platforms BRM and OPCOM, used for competitive and transparent operations.

Energocom representatives note that purchase prices do not include additional taxes and expenses, such as those related to transport, logistics, and capacity reservation.

"These data reflect both the energy security strategy and the company's commitment to maintaining a diversified electricity supply portfolio, mixing internal production with external purchases to meet domestic market demand. Thus, we continue to ensure the stability and electricity supply of the Republic of Moldova, providing consumers with sufficient resources under transparent market conditions," summarizes Energocom.
