Energocom announces three-year contract with OMV Petrom
Energocom has signed its first long-term procurement contract with OMV Petrom, one of the energy market leaders in the region.
According to the Ministry of Energy, under the contract, Energocom company will purchase natural gas from Neptun Deep project. This is the largest natural gas project in the Black Sea and the first deepwater offshore project in Romania. Neptun Deep has estimated reserves of about 100 billion cubic meters of natural gas, which will contribute to positioning Romania as the largest natural gas producer in the European Union.
Deliveries will be made at the virtual trading point (VTP) in Romania, ensuring a steady flow of natural gas for the Republic of Moldova.
Energy Minister Dorin Junghietu stated that this contract will contribute to diversifying supply sources and thus to the country's energy security.
“After Russia reduced gas deliveries to the Republic of Moldova in 2021, Energocom demonstrated that it could bring liquefied natural gas from overseas, and now it secures deliveries from the largest offshore project in the Black Sea, which is set to start extraction in the near future,” the minister said.
In 2024, Energocom covered 83.72% of the total gas volume consumed in the Republic of Moldova.
