Moldovan deputy PM says Tiraspol must accept country’s reintegration offer, to overcome problems triggered by energy crisis
Tiraspol must accept the offer of reintegration with Moldova, in order to overcome the problems triggered by the energy crisis in the region. This implies the gradual extension of the constitutional framework over the entire territory of the country. Deputy Prime Minister for Reintegration Valeriu Chiveri today made statements to this effect, before the government meeting.
The official referred to the state of economic emergency that is expected to be extended in the Transnistrian region, against the background of difficulties in the delivery of natural gas.
“We have this information. The problem is an older one, linked to the energy crisis in the region. The possibility of supporting our citizens on the left bank of Dniester and of ensuring the activity of industrial enterprises is relatively simple – Tiraspol must accept the offer of reintegration with Moldova, which implies the gradual extension of the constitutional framework over the entire territory of the country. It is an offer supported, for the most part, by all citizens on the left bank of the Dniester and reflects their desire for stability, security and sustainable social and economic development,” noted Valeriu Chiveri.
At the same time, the deputy PM underlined that, so far, no “formal request has been received from Tiraspol and there is no openness in this regard.”
Tiraspol is expected to extend, on January 15 this year, the state of emergency in the economy, because of the difficulties in supplying gas to the Transnistrian region. The decision envisages reducing natural gas deliveries to industrial enterprises, in order to provide the population with heating and hot water.
