Moldovan farmers to access European research, innovations via digital platform
The government has approved the launch of the Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation System (AKIS), a digital platform meant to connect farmers with research, advisory services and relevant organizations. This new tool will facilitate farmers' access to updated information, modern technologies, funding opportunities and European best practices, marking an important step towards the modernization and digitalization of Moldova’s agricultural sector.
The new information system will create a digital platform linking farmers with researchers, advisory services and relevant organizations. Farmers will have access to updated information, modern technologies, funding opportunities, and international best practices.
Through AKIS, users will be able to benefit from online training, virtual demonstrations, experience exchanges with experts and access to the latest results of agricultural research. The platform will become a central tool for developing farmers' professional skills and supporting the transition to modern and sustainable agricultural practices.
“The Agricultural Knowledge and Innovation System aims to develop a platform and digital tools for agricultural advisory services, knowledge transfer and the development of farmers' professional skills. The platform will bring together farmers, advisory services and research, in order to accelerate knowledge transfer and innovation adaptation, supporting the adoption of modern and sustainable practices,” said Ina Butucel, Deputy Secretary General at the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Industry.
The implementation of AKIS is part of Moldova's commitments to modernize agriculture and integrate into European programmes Horizon Europe and EIP-AGRI. At the same time, the system will contribute to enhancing the competitiveness of the agri-food sector, adapting to climate change and strengthening the country's food security.
Thus, AKIS becomes an essential link in the effort to digitize agriculture and support Moldovan farmers in transitioning to sustainable and competitive production on the European market.
