“Porcelain War” screened in Chișinău

In the context of marking four years since Russia launched its invasion of Ukraine, the film “Porcelain War” was screened in Chișinău. Minister of Culture Cristian Jardan, who attended the event, emphasized the artistic value of the film and the resilience of the Ukrainian people.

“I would like to thank the EU Delegation to Chișinău for making this screening possible. It is a very important and necessary initiative to remind us of this unjust war. Film, art, and culture in general have the ability to convey the message of the Ukrainian people’s struggle for freedom, for their country, and for their future,” he said.

Jardan stressed that the Ukrainian army and the Ukrainian people continue to protect the Republic of Moldova and the region at the cost of thousands of human lives.

“We all want peace in Ukraine, but not at any price. What is needed is a just peace and guarantees that such acts of aggression will not be repeated. We must stand in solidarity with Ukraine and never forget the sacrifice it is making for the Republic of Moldova, for the region, and for the entire European continent,” the minister concluded.

The documentary “Porcelain War,” directed by Brendan Bellomo and Slava Leontyev, tells the story of three artists from Kharkiv who chose to remain in the city despite the bombings. The film premiered at the 2024 Sundance Film Festival, where it won the Grand Jury Prize for Documentary, and it was nominated for the 2025 Academy Awards in the “Best Documentary Feature Film” category.
