Direct flights from Chișinău to Korea

Citizens will be able to benefit from direct flights from Chișinău to destinations in the Republic of Korea. In this regard, the government decided today to launch negotiations on the draft Agreement between the Government of the Republic of Moldova and the Government of the Republic of Korea on air services.

Secretary General of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development Angela Țurcanu said that the signing of the Agreement will allow the launch of direct flights between Chișinău and destinations in the Republic of Korea, will contribute to an increase in passenger traffic, the creation of new economic and tourism opportunities for our citizens, as well as the strengthening of bilateral diplomatic relations and the development of the investment climate.

“We continue to diversify the routes operated from Chișinău Airport and to expand the air connectivity of the Republic of Moldova with new international markets. Through the Agreement with the Government of the Republic of Korea, we will for the first time create the legal framework necessary for cooperation in the field of air transport between the two states, which will establish the rules for operating bilateral air services, including aspects related to aeronautical safety and security, operating rights and the authorization of airlines,” said Angela Țurcanu at the Government meeting.

Eugen Doga International Airport – Chișinău returned to state management in the spring of 2023. The authorities previously announced the modernization of airport infrastructure and the attraction of investments, in order to increase the capacity and quality of services, under a state-managed regime that is transparent and oriented toward the public interest.

Currently, it ranks among the best-performing airports in Europe in the category of 1–10 million passengers per year. Growth is supported by the expansion of the route network and the number of airlines, which increased from 20 in 2022 to 33 in 2024.
