
Moldovan government approves two state documents for development of beekeeping
Chisinau, 21 October /MOLDPRES/ - The cabinet members today voted for the approval of the national programme on the development of beekeeping in Moldova for 2021-2025 and the action plan on its implementation for the 2021-2022 years.
According to the government, the ministries, other central administrative authorities and public institutions, in cooperation with the competent associations, will ensure, within the limits of the competences assigned, the enforcement of the present decision and the action plan on the implementation of the aforementioned national programme. The financing of the actions provided for in the abovementioned acts will be made by the authorities in charge, at the expense and within the limits of the state budget means and other financial sources, under the legislation.
The Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment Ministry will annually submit to the government, till 15 February, the report on the carrying out of the Programme/Action plan.
According to estimations by the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), the volume of honey’s production amounts to over 4.4 million dollars in Moldova annually and is on the 54th position in the world, calculated based on the average for the 2009-2013 years. During nine years (2011-2019), the production of honey was increasing in Moldova, with small fluctuations, registering values from 2.8 to 5.7 thousand tons per year, according to official data. The share of honey’s production in the overall agricultural production of Moldova reached 0.5 per cent in 2016.
