Moldovan parliament speaker in Budapest: ''This is a good time to open a new chapter in the relations between our parliaments and countries''

Chisinau, September 16, 2026 – Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu has met Ágnes Forsthoffer, President of the National Assembly of Hungary Ágnes Forsthoffer, during his working visit to Budapest. Igor Grosu said that the current political context represented a good time to open a new chapter in relations between our parliaments and countries.

“I was pleased to feel openness in Budapest toward Moldova and our European path. Today, we have an opportunity to build a closer relationship based on trust, respect, and the shared wish to have a stronger and more united Europe. I invited Ms. Forsthoffer to visit Moldova and I hope that we will continue this dialogue in Chisinau very soon,” said Igor Grosu.

During his meeting with Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Affairs Minister Anita Orbán, Igor Grosu referred to the progress made in the accession process and the efforts to open the remaining clusters by the end of this year. In this process, Moldova is also counting greatly on Hungary’s support.

 

Igor Grosu also met representatives of the airline Wizz Air, which is becoming increasingly present in Moldova, and expressed the country’s openness to expanding the number of flights and destinations.
