The Republic of Moldova will receive non-reimbursable assistance worth €4.32 million to strengthen the operational capacity of the National Army. Today the Government approved the signing of the Agreement between the Ministry of Defense and the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR), which will enable the implementation of the project Strengthening the Operational Capacity of the National Army of the Republic of Moldova.

The funds provided by UNITAR will be used to purchase equipment and technical assets needed by the National Army to strengthen its response capacity and support the authorities in managing crisis situations, including natural disasters.

The project thus contributes both to the modernization of the national defense sector and to the development of the National Army’s capacity to intervene in support of the population and state institutions whenever necessary.

State Secretary of the Ministry of Defense Sergiu Plop noted that the assistance provided to the Republic of Moldova supports the modernization process of the national defense sector and contributes to increasing the capacity of state institutions to respond effectively in crisis situations.

“Beyond equipment and capabilities, people remain at the heart of all these joint efforts. The safety and well-being of citizens are a priority for us. That is why the National Army, together with the responsible authorities, is always there where help is needed. By strengthening these capabilities, we ensure that we will have the necessary resources to intervene promptly, efficiently, and responsibly whenever necessary,” said Sergiu Plop.
