Moldova's National Anticorruption Center, Italy’s Financial Guard to exchange information to combat economic, financial crime
The National Anticorruption Center (CNA) and Italy’s Guardia di Finanza (Financial Guard) will exchange information and expertise, in order to prevent and combat economic and financial crime. A Memorandum of Understanding to this effect has been signed in Rome.
The document was signed by CNA Director Alexandr Pinzari and General Commander of Italy’s Guardia di Finanza Andrea de Gennaro. Ambassador of Moldova to Italy Oleg Nica also attended the event.
Under the agreement, the institutions will cooperate in investigating acts of corruption and economic and financial offenses, as well as in exchanging information on the identification, tracing, freezing, recovery and effective management of illegally got assets.
“The signing of this Memorandum is an important step toward strengthening cooperation between the CNA and Italy’s Guardia di Finanza. Almost 25 years after the CNA was established, our institution is expanding its expertise in investigating economic and financial offenses, while the Guardia di Finanza’s more than 250 years of experience represents an important source of best practices. This is the beginning of effective cooperation, based on dialogue, shared experience and tangible results,” the CNA director emphasized.
For his part, General Commander of Italy’s Guardia di Finanza Andrea de Gennaro emphasized the need to expand the international cooperation network and operational data exchange, in order to combat economic and financial crime.
The initiative was carried out within the OSCE project, Supporting the Anti-Corruption Efforts of Moldova, implemented by the Office of the OSCE Coordinator of Economic and Environmental Activities.
Guardia di Finanza is a military-status police authority specializing in combating economic and financial crime. The institution was founded in 1774 and has more than 250 years of experience in this field.
