Agenda of Moldovan parliament's plenary meeting supplemented

The parliament's standing bureau has approved an addition to the agenda of the plenary meetings scheduled for September 17–18.

Four drafts aimed at harmonizing the national legislation with EU standards were proposed for examination. The legislative initiatives concern international police cooperation, as well as the exchange of DNA analysis results with other states, in order to prevent, detect and investigate serious crimes, particularly in cross-border cases. The MPs will also examine a draft on the management of chemical substances, which proposes clearer rules on classification, labeling and packaging. Another draft submitted for adoption aims to amend the Subsoil Code, in order to regulate the management of waste generated by extractive industries.

The lawmakers will also approve two draft parliamentary resolutions. One concerns the establishment of the parliamentary group for supporting democratic Belarus and the other concerns the appointment of the chairperson of the Special parliamentary commission for monitoring and parliamentary oversight of the implementation of Moldova’s reintegration policy. In addition, the legislative initiative on the country’s accession to the International Convention on the Control of Harmful Anti-fouling Systems on Ships is to be put to a vote.

Other draft laws on the agenda, due to be examined in the second reading, concern amendments to the state budget, the state social insurances budget and the mandatory health insurance funds for 2026; the institutionalization of the Defence Staff; the adjustment of the regulatory framework related to the security of oil product supplies, as well as the strengthening of the criminal liability of legal entities. The MPs will also consider the draft providing for the activation of prepaid SIM cards only upon presentation of an identity document. It has been merged with the draft on preventing telephone scams and fraud through electronic communications.

In the first reading, the lawmakers will examine legislative initiatives on the reorganization of the State Enterprise, Railway of Moldova, and amendments to the regulatory framework related to the sanitary and veterinary field. The parliament is also expected to denounce the Agreement on interlibrary loans within the Commonwealth of Independent States.
