Moldovan parliament speaker in Budapest says Moldova, Hungary can open new chapter in relations between parliaments of two countries

Moldova and Hungary can open a new chapter in relations between the parliaments of the two countries. Parliament Speaker Igor Grosu has made statements to this effect following his meeting with President of Hungary’s National Assembly Ágnes Forsthoffer in Budapest.

The officials discussed Moldova’s European path and relations between the two countries. Igor Grosu noted that Moldova was determined to continue the process of joining the European Union through reforms and results.

“Our objective is to open all remaining negotiating clusters this year,” Igor Grosu wrote on social media.

The parliament speaker said that he had noted openness and support for Moldova and its European path in Budapest.

“I was pleased to feel the openness and support for Moldova and our European path in Budapest. Today, we have the opportunity to build a closer relationship based on trust, respect and the same wish to have a stronger and more united Europe,” Igor Grosu said.

The Moldovan official invited Ágnes Forsthoffer to visit Moldova and expressed hope that the dialogue between the two parliaments would soon continue in Chisinau.

The parliament speaker is paying working visits to Slovenia and Hungary. The agenda includes meetings with senior officials from the two countries, focusing on strengthening bilateral relations and interparliamentary cooperation, as well as supporting the advancement of Moldova in the European integration process.
