Moldovan Speaker about fuel market situation: We have larger stocks than before war

Speaker Igor Grosu assured that the Republic of Moldova has sufficient fuel reserves amid the situation in the Middle East. He emphasized that existing stocks are being replenished with new imports.

The Speaker stated that, at present, the fuel stocks available in the country are higher than before the outbreak of the war.

“I personally discussed with ANRE director. He presented the data to me. We now have stocks that are larger than before the war. There are fuel companies that import, and there are companies that buy from those that import because they do not have storage capacities. Obviously, the one who imports has fuel in stock,” he said.

Igor Grosu urged consumers not to panic, given that the authorities are continuously monitoring the situation.

“There are stocks. There is this element of panic. Our appeal is not to panic. Imports are being made,” Grosu said.

According to official data presented in the middle of the current week, the Republic of Moldova has gasoline stocks that can cover consumption for a period exceeding 20 days, while diesel reserves are sufficient for about two weeks.

Minister of Energy Dorin Junghietu announced on the morning of Wednesday, March 11, that gasoline and diesel imports are increasing, according to data from recent days. He stressed that importers are bringing more fuel into the country to compensate for the increased consumption observed on the market in recent days.
