Unannounced inspection at Ghidighici Forestry District

Environment Minister Gheorghe Hajder announced that he ordered an inspection this morning at Ghidighici Forestry District, in the context of “reports of illegal logging”.

“Early this morning, I ordered an unannounced inspection at Ghidighici Forestry District. We can no longer accept half-measures. The increasingly frequent reports of illegal logging have led me to step up inspections,” the minister said.

According to the official, the inspection is being carried out by inspectors brought in from other regions of the country and is being monitored directly by advisers from the Ministry of Environment.

“This time, we changed the rules of the game: the inspection is being carried out by inspectors brought in from other parts of the country, in order to eliminate any potential local ‘friendships,’ and it is monitored directly by advisers from my office. I want a real picture of the situation,” the minister added.

Gheorghe Hajder emphasized that decisions in this case will be taken after the inspectors present their final report. “I will make decisions as soon as I have the report on my desk,” the Environment Minister concluded.
