Work of Moldova-Romania Chamber of Commerce and Industry relaunched in Chisinau

The work of the Bilateral Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Moldova-Romania today was relaunched at an event organized in Chisinau.

Present at the event, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economic Development and Digitalization Doina Nistor said that the relaunch of the Bilateral Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Moldova - Romania reconfirmed the essential role of this organization: bringing business communities closer and building strong bridges between people, companies and markets.

According to the official, the relationship between Moldova and Romania is a strategic one, united by history, culture and economic collaboration based on trust and concrete results.

For her part, Finance Minister Victoria Belous emphasized the essential role of the economic cooperation with Romania, in the context of Moldova's European path.

"The Finance Ministry supports initiatives that contribute to the development of the business environment, attracting investments and economic integration into the European Union. The relaunch of the Bilateral Chamber is a valuable platform to connect producers and investors on both sides of the Prut River and to speed up the necessary economic transformations in our country," Victoria Belous said.

Governor of the National Bank of Moldova (BNM)Anca Dragu emphasized the importance of bilateral collaboration and a stable financial environment in attracting investments and developing the economy.

"Whoever does not invest in Moldova today, will regret it in 5-10 years. I made this statement before, and I reaffirm it with even more conviction today. The facts confirm it. In recent years, Moldova has made decisive progress towards economic stability, deep reforms and integration into the European economic space," the BNM governor stressed.

Anca Dragu added that, through stability, digitalization and openness to innovation, we can create an environment where capital flows with confidence, entrepreneurs have access to financing and consumers benefit from modern and safe services, both in Moldova and beyond its borders.

The event's agenda included the presentation of the Chamber's first study on factories in Bessarabia, the launch of a dialogue platform to support local producers, a call to food and non-food producers to become members and the strategic vision for the upcoming period.

Attending the event were diplomats, government members, representatives of the banking sector, the entrepreneurial community and central and local authorities, leaders from the banking and entrepreneurial environment, as well as relevant financial institutions.

Romania is Moldova's most important trading partner, accounting for over 21 per cent of foreign trade. In 2024, the trade exchanges reached 2.7 billion dollars, registering constant growth. Also, Romania is the biggest investor in Moldova, with over 1,640 companies and investments exceeding 6.7 billion lei.
