
Czech Republic ranks as 5th trade partner of Moldova in EU
The Czech Republic ranks fifth among the main economic partners of the Republic of Moldova within the European Union. Last year, the value of bilateral trade increased by 19.2% compared to 2023, reaching $389.1 million.
According to data of the Ministry of Economic Development and Digitization, in 2017, trade exchanges between the two countries amounted to only $84.4 million – more than four times less than at present.
Meanwhile, Moldovan exports to the Czech Republic experienced a remarkable growth of +35.4% compared to 2023 and +670% compared to 2017.
The main exported products include: wires and cables, wines from fresh grapes, sunflower seeds, chairs, electrical devices, jams, jellies, marmalades.
Moldova imports from the Czech Republic wires and cables, cars, goods transport vehicles, pipes and tubes, batteries, auto parts and medicines.
Currently, in the Republic of Moldova, there are 39 companies with Czech capital, with total investments amounting to about 1.8 million lei.
The first place among the main commercial partners of the Republic of Moldova in the European Union is occupied by Romania. Germany ranks second, Italy third and Poland fourth.
