DOC // Citizens to pay less for electricity as of today
From 1 August citizens will pay less for electricity. The new prices came into effect today after the decisions, approved on 29 July by the National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) were published in the Official Journal.
Thus, final consumers in the northern part of the country, served by FEE-Nord company will pay 4 lei/kWh (excluding VAT), by 0.68 lei less than currently.
Moreover, the tariff for consumers in the central and southern parts of the country, served by Premier Energy decreases by 0.51 lei and will be 3.59 lei/kWh (excluding VAT).
Prime Minister Dorin Recean mentioned that the price decrease was due to Energocom's success in purchasing energy at lower prices and the increased share of renewable energy in consumption.
After ANRE's decisions, the Government announced that all families in the Republic of Moldova will continue to benefit from compensation for electricity for the first 110 kWh consumed. The support is provided by the Executive, with the assistance of the European Union.
