Moldova and Finland expand cooperation in cybersecurity and green energy

The strengthening of cooperation between the Republic of Moldova and Finland in areas related to cybersecurity and green energy was discussed by Deputy Prime Minister for European Integration Cristina Gherasimov and Finnish Minister for European Affairs and Ownership Steering Joakim Strand, during an official visit to Helsinki.

During the talks, officials addressed topics related to Moldova’s European path, institutional reforms, and essential transformations carried out in joining the European Union.

“Finland firmly supports Moldova's path to the EU from all perspectives, and we will do everything we can, including in Brussels, to convey our message of support. We hope and are making efforts for the Republic of Moldova to open negotiations on the first group of chapters as soon as possible because we believe Moldova is part of the European family and they are our friends,” Joakim Strand said.

Cristina Gherasimov emphasized the importance of adopting the good practices of a state with strong institutions and a competitive economy.

“Finland is an example of a state with strong institutions, a competitive economy, a high-quality educational system, and a society firmly anchored in European values. The Finnish experience, over the three decades as an EU member state, is valuable for the Republic of Moldova on its way to the European Union,” mentioned the Deputy Prime Minister.

Additionally, the official appreciated the consistent support offered by Finland.

“I thanked the authorities in Helsinki for standing by us, supporting the European path of the Republic of Moldova, and our determination to become part of the large European family, where there is peace and numerous development opportunities and a better life for every citizen,” stated Cristina Gherasimov.
