Irina Vlah banned from entering Lithuania for a period of 5 years

As of September 16, 2025, Lithuania has banned Irina Vlah, former governor of the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia from entering its territory. The decision was made due to her connections with the Russian Federation and her active support for Moscow's illegal interference in Moldova's political processes.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Vilnius, "Irina Vlah frequently visits Russia, meets with officials from the aggressor state, and coordinates activities involving Moscow's interference in Moldova's internal affairs and democratic processes, including with regard to the upcoming parliamentary elections this fall."

Previously, on August 28, 2025, the Government of Canada imposed sanctions against Irina Vlah. Subsequently, the Interinstitutional Oversight Council of the Republic of Moldova adopted restrictive measures, and the State Fiscal Service ordered today the freezing of her funds and other assets.

The entry ban into Lithuania will remain in effect for a period of five years.
