Moldovan PM attends opening of tenth edition of Moldova Business Week

Prime Minister Dorin Recean has attended the opening of Moldova Business Week—the largest event of the year for the business community. The tenth edition brings together over 2,000 participants, of which about 700 are from abroad, from more than 40 countries, including Romania, Poland, Italy, Turkey, Japan, India and China.

The PM greeted the businesspeople and emphasized the importance of local and international investments for the development of the country’s economy. The prime minister highlighted that businesses of Moldova had the opportunity to grow and expand into new markets, with the support of new government policies.

“Companies from Moldova can now operate globally and hire talents from anywhere—this is our promise to local businesses, to the Diaspora and to all those who see Moldova’s potential,” said Prime Minister Dorin Recean.

In the context, the PM referred to the measures taken by the government -digitalization of public services, simplification of administrative procedures, special tax regime for the IT sector, adjustment of the educational offer and continuous improvement of infrastructure. Among the tangible benefits, there are  are 65 per cent of business services already online, a single tax of 2 per cent on turnover for small merchants, a simplified regime for independent activities—a single 15-per cent tax  as of January 1, 2026, 0 per cent tax on reinvested profit, state aid—up to 60 per cent of investments reimbursed in six strategic sectors, and others.

“Our focus on education and the special regime for IT has led to a tenfold growth in the sector. We now expect similar success in the business services field, along with opportunities provided by industrialization, the reconstruction of Ukraine, and regional projects,” said the prime minister.

As a result of all these positive changes for the business environment, in 2024, there was the highest increase in the number of enterprises opened in the last 15 years. Previously, an average of 5.9 thousand new enterprises were registered, but in 2024 there were 8.8 thousand - a 46-per cent increase. At the same time, last year, we had the highest percentage of enterprises that made a profit in the last 15 years - 54.7 per cent.

The current edition of Moldova Business Week comes with two major novelties. They include the launch of the digital platform Investment Map, which presents investment opportunities from regions with the involvement of mayors and local authorities. Also, the launch of the new Stock Exchange in Chisinau, which will connect Moldova to European financial markets and bring concrete opportunities to the country’s entrepreneurs and foreign investors.
