Moldova, Armenia, Ukraine, EU launch EU4Green Recovery East 2025–2028 programme

Representatives of the European Union, Moldova, Armenia and Ukraine today convened online at the first Regional Meeting of the EU4Green Recovery East 2025–2028 program, a new initiative aimed at accelerating the green transition in the region and promoting a sustainable, environmentally-friendly economy.

According to the Ministry of Environment, the programme focuses on five strategic directions.

“They include promoting the circular economy, sustainable management of water resources, harmonizing national legislation with the European Union's environmental standards, integration and regional exchange of environmental data, and cross-border cooperation in environmental protection,” the ministry also said.

In the opening of the meeting, Grigore Stratulat, State Secretary at the Ministry of Environment, highlighted the importance of strengthening the partnership with the European Union, in order to continue the progress in environmental protection.

“The European Commission and the EU4Green Recovery East programme, along  with implementation partners, ensure the continuity and sustainability of the results achieved in previous years under the EU4Environment initiative. The effective cooperation so far creates solid premises to advance significant changes in sustainable development, economic stability and closer alignment with European standards,” the official said.

The meeting marked a key stage in the implementation of the programme: national and regional priorities were validated, interinstitutional coordination was strengthened and collaboration opportunities were identified with other EU-funded initiatives, international financial institutions and EU member states—under the Team Europe approach.

Attending the event were representatives of the Eastern Partnership countries, the EU Delegation, the European Environmental Agency, international organizations involved in the programme's implementation (including the Austrian Environment Agency, the International Office for Water, Expertise France, OECD, UNECE, and UNIDO), as well as civil society representatives.

The EU4Green Recovery East 2025–2028 programme continues the efforts for the region's ecological transformation and directly contributes to achieving the environmental goals of the partner countries, in the context of European integration.
