European MP says European Parliament stands with Moldova in accession process, in combating all security challenges

The European Parliament stands with Moldova in its accession process and in combating all security challenges. President of the European Parliament Delegation for Relations with Moldova Siegfried Muresan has made statements to this effect, following a meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popsoi in Brussels.

According to the MEP, at the meeting, the sides discussed the challenges the country was facing ahead of the parliamentary elections.

“I was pleased to meet again today with Mihai Popsoi, the foreign affairs minister of Moldova. We discussed the challenges facing Moldova ahead of the parliamentary elections, due in September: Russian interference, the need for external support, and the importance of maintaining the European path. Moldova will need us, with political, financial and institutional support. The autumn elections are not just about Moldova's future, but also about our shared security and stability at the European Union's borders. We will continue to stand by Moldova,” said Siegfried Muresan.

Deputy Prime Minister Mihai Popsoi paus a working visit to Brussels, Belgium, on July 14-15. The Moldovan diplomacy head is holding discussions with Foreign Affairs Ministers from EU member states at the European Union's Foreign Affairs Council meeting.

The official will speak about the agenda of Moldova's accession to the European Union, the regional security context, new opportunities for cooperation with the EU on security matters and strengthening resilience against hybrid threats.
