
Moldovan deputy PM presents Moldova's European Commitments to European Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs
Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mihai Popsoi today participated in a meeting of the European Parliament's Committee on Foreign Affairs (AFET), held under the leadership of its president David McAllister. The meeting aimed to strengthen the dialogue with European partners and reconfirm Moldova's European path.
During the discussions, the Moldovan official expressed gratitude to the committee members for the constant support provided to Moldova over the years, both through resolutions and positions adopted in the plenum of the European Parliament, as well as through political and financial support in the European integration process.
At the same time, Mihai Popsoi informed the MEPs about the current challenges faced by Moldova, especially in the complex regional context and domestic reforms. Also, the minister welcomed the decision to open a European Parliament Office in Chisinau – a significant step for bringing European institutions closer to Moldova's citizens.
‘’We hope this office will become operational as soon as possible. It will be a valuable tool for communication and information about the European Parliament's activities and the values and mechanisms of the European Union,’’ noted Popsoi.
For their part, the AFET Committee members reiterated the European Parliament's support for Moldova's European integration and appreciated the progress made by the Moldovan authorities in implementing key reforms. The MEPs encouraged the Moldovan government to maintain the pace of reforms and continue efforts to align with European standards.
Minister Popsoi's participation in the meeting of the Committee on Foreign Affairs is taking place in the context of fostered dialogue with European institutions, at a decisive moment for Moldova's European path.
