Moldovan president meets officials from Belgium, Luxembourg, the Netherlands

President Maia Sandu, met today with representatives of the Benelux format – Belgium, Luxembourg, and the Netherlands, three of the six founding countries of the European Union. The meeting was attended by Maxime Prévot, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Affairs and Development Cooperation of Belgium; Xavier Bettel, Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs and External Trade, Minister of Development Cooperation and Humanitarian Affairs of Luxembourg and Heleen Bakker, Director General for European Cooperation at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Netherlands.

The officials reaffirmed their strong support for Moldova's accession to the European Union and emphasized their commitment to support reforms, economic modernization and strengthening of democratic institutions of the country. The discussions also focused on the protection of the electoral processes from external interference.

President Maia Sandu appreciated the consistent support of the Benelux states and reiterated Moldova's determination to build a secure, peaceful and European future that brings prosperity to all citizens.
